The Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) is a non-profitable, multi-disciplinary contract research organisation with over 2700 employees providing high-end technology solutions and innovation services. VTT’s Center for Printed Intelligence (CPI) is a strategic initiative to integrate multidisciplinary technology of printing-like mass-manufacturing methods, ink-like innovative material technology, and functionalities created from electronics, biotechnology, chemistry, optics, optoelectronics or their combinations within VTT and our partner networks to create new organic and large area electronics solutions in novel applications, e.g., disposable sensors, smart packages, intelligent large area user interfaces, optical/electronic codes and tags, and large area bioactive paper for increased end user value. There is wide experience in hybrid material development and applications, OLED manufacturing and roll-to-roll processing.
The research facilities include:

  • Clean room
  • High speed roll-to-roll manufacturing equipment
  • Manufacturing equipment (PVD, sputtering, photolithography)
  • Surface analysis equipment (white light interferometer SEM, FESEM, AFM, SAM)
  • Laboratories for optics, and electronics
  • Simulation and CAD tools for optics and electronics
